I would say that the safest way of doing it would be to use memory foam... like the bedding one. You can cut it fit the shape with a utility knife and it will take alot of abuse without harming the laptop... plus it's lightweight
If you can't get that foam... use the type from a cushion

Really thick and cushiony materials. Soft bedding material cushion or any kind of foam should work.

High density foam rubber works great, just make sure u get it thick enuff to just allow a tight fit
