Running is a really good way of raising money. I used to hate running but have got really into it in the last couple of years and am running my second half marathon this year (help!). I've supported a number of charities and raised several thousand pounds over a number of races.
The trick is to start small with a 5km and build up to longer distances.
Just giving is a good site through which to collect donations check it out here: http://www.justgiving.com/
Other ideas are to arrange an 80s/90s night in your local pub perhaps and get everyone to donate money. Cycling is also good. If you live in an area where there's a sense of community then rope people in from your local pub and have fundraising days/nights etc.
Good luck and good on you!

Put buckets out to collect money from shoppers in the local area. I did this after the earthquake and raised over £1500.00 in change. Also you could raise public awareness in towns by dishing out leaflets with details about this charity so they can send in donations. You could hold a fancy dress party at a pub or club, (most landlords will happily oblige in this), charging a small fee for entry. You could also advertise charity events in most local newspapers for free. I think it's great that you are putting effort into helping others. Good luck.

You can do a carwash at a grocery store or retail store. You also can talk to your local radio or TV news station and tell them what you are doing and get free advertising (possibly). Both love things like that. If you talk to some of your local restaurants and have some kind of party where there is a cover charge (for charity) maybe they will donate the food or a portion of their proceeds to the charity.

Sponsored swim the obvious one but boring, how about a sponsored water carry. People from global south carry water for miles every day something like that could be sponsored but would raise awareness of the issue as well.

What about trying to get unwanted -pictures,ornaments,clothes --anything --and get as many of your friends that you can to do the same and hold a large carboot sale. Most people have loads of stuff they don't want.
My friend and our gang did it and raised £6000 pounds. She put posters in shops, bars, cafes etc with contact numbers and everyone picked up the donations personally. It took 4 months to organise and it was held on a local school playing fields it was hard work but a great day.
Get people to bake cakes and sell them as well.
Good Luck

My trusty January 07 version of the Reader's Digest has a chart showing what a set of charities did with their money in 2004-5. Oxfam spent £226m, of which sixty six% (£149m) went on charitable paintings. in assessment, international Emergency alleviation spent 95% of its expenditure on charitable paintings, yet they only raised approximately £35m. i think of i'm attempting to assert that notwithstanding Oxfam spends a variety of of its money on pestering human beings for money and working its shops, its presence and the actuality that it is so recognisable skill that it has extra certainly money to apply charitably interior the 1st place! (notwithstanding if this won't actual answer your question. Sorry!) you would be waiting to attempt someplace like the Salvation military, i think of they might actual redistribute outfits - possibly to not the third international, yet nonetheless to those who choose them. As for ebay, while you're actually not already conscious, to have a charity public sale huge-unfold by the powers that be on there you could desire to have a signed letter from the charity of your selection saying that they are helping your public sale, in any different case that's going to likely be closed down. that's purely slightly a minefield to do charity auctions on there because it must be purely in an attempt to be huge-unfold. wish this might properly be slightly of help.

Or a sponsored hike/parachute jump/swim etcetera. Good luck. I hope you raise plenty of money.

Have a silent auction. Go to local businesses and ask for products for the auction. You also can auction your time such as baby sitting, cleaning a garage, mow someones lawn ect... If you go to church or have several friends, maybe you can get them involved to.
