I agree with Geoff d and The Oak! For some, revenge could be sweet in the short term, but never in the long term. Revenge comes back to haunt you one way or another.

Sorry but I cant resist adding....what are these moralists on? Why do they have to go into a 'high and mighty,' 'I am perfect' stance?
Why cant they stick to a concise answer without taking the stage by spewing out their religious rhetoric, and metaphorically ramming their belief systems down our throats?

Revenge has a sweetness of sorts, but once carried out, regret comes to gnaw at your heart.

Forgiveness is far superior to revenge and makes one feel great and at peace with the world. It shows real maturity too.

Not worth it. Revenge if legal still hurts everyone. If illegal, the coppers can make it not worth it.
The one who typed in the Bible references came up with some of the best, ageless wisdom on the matter.
I would rather let Karma handle such matters, or God, if you prefer.

Revenge is not having the capacity to "let go" of what has been and you cannot change !

-Forbidden,
(Lev.19:18 "`Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against one of your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the LORD.

Prov.24:29 Do not say, "I'll do to him as he has done to me; I'll pay that man back for what he did."

Rom.12:17,19
17 Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody.
19 Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: "It is mine to avenge; I will repay," says the Lord.

yeah, it can be.

people can moralise all they like, and i'm not really saying that they're wrong, but getting your own back on somebody - especially when it's done absolutely effortlessly and without a fuss ("revenge is best served cold", etc) - can feel f***ing fantastic.
