Maybe what it gross to them isn't to you. Do you want to be like them. And maybe their established equilibrium contains the habit of losing appetite when that happens and yours isn't.

Some people just see a more vivid image in their minds as you do and sometimes it makes them feel as if they're eating what you're talking about, especially if it has a somewhat same texture.
I have an extremely vivid imagination and picture the most random things, but I don't really have a problem with eating and thinking about gross things.
I guess some people are more resilient than others--like some people will pass out at the sight/smell of blood.

Some people have weak stomachs and they picture these "gross" things in their minds while they're hearing them.
It is very rude to discuss anything at any time that offends another person. There are so many other opportunities to talk about things. When people are gathered around the dinner table, it is a time for peaceful calming conversation.

It depends on how familar with the subject you are. If you can contemplate it vividly, the feeling of food in your mouth starts to be tainted by the thought in your head.
I'm kinda like you, too. I have a strong stomach. The only time I can't eat with a bad thought in my mind is if I just cleaned up the yard after the dog was there...

I was on one of many flights during the world excursion my Department of Defense parents took me on as a child when my airline steak had an artery in it about 0.75cm in diameter. Being a precocious child, I pointed this out. That isn't disturbing to other eaters? I mean, how cheaper can they get?

Your disgust response is not as high as the mean disgust response; rather, more like two standard deviations from the mean. Did you ever wonder how doctors could muck around in the places they do, without losing their lunch. I think this trait would be of more service to physicians than intelligence.

I know for me, I picture whatever it is they're talking about and it makes me feel sick. Depends on the subject though and the person. Some people have weak stomachs about certain things, but not others.

I'm usually not grossed out, but sometimes I imagine eating whatever it is that they've mentioned, and then it is kind of gross.

It's verbal-vision; One who sees what is being said.
Like talking about Freddy Kreuger pulling the veins out of one of his victims and has him walking like a puppet, whilst you're eating spaghetti.

Because, just my theory, when someone says something gross WHILE YOU ARE EATING...then it turns some stomachs...and makes you NOT want to eat...a lot of sensitive types are like this...and unfortunately i am one of them...just born sensitive!!!
