It could be overrated if what was important was getting what you want. Choosing the steps to that outcome wouldn't matter if your desires were fulfilled by extra-subjective measures, unless your desire is to reach a goal autonomously.
But freedom of choice is consistent with illusion of the same. Which is another reason it's overrated. If we are more or less determined by our beliefs & desires and the means to their development, then there's no room for free will. If we do have some transcendental ability to choose without influence, how would that make us better or different? For, even if you could choose the less-than-best-option, surely that is not in your best interest...

Because from a thousand different perspectives, whatever you choose will be the expected one thus there is no freedom. The illusion of freedom only applies to ONE person, the person choosing, thus it is meaningless.

mabe other people want to controll and if they say that "freedom of choice is overrated" mabe that will discourage others to be in a leading position.

Because there is so little opportunity to exercise it; anticipation of pain. But, it is better than none. The Judgment is negative, the Will is positive.
