They'll do it, in theory, but as they get used to you, you won't be viewed as a threat so much.... so the longer you've had her, the less likely she is to do it. That's the same reason all the ball python owners out there rarely see their snakes ball up like the name suggests.

Armadillo lizards, unlike some lizards, don't display tail autonomy, so no, they won't lose their tail...but it's still not comfortable for them to be grabbed by it. By the way, they can pack a strong enough bite to break their own jaw, so watch your fingers.

I am not sure, but I think that they can. I armadillos can, than why can't armadillo lizards? They are probably the same except they have so differences.
