What is vampyric metal (the genre)?

I found this list of different metals while looking through a Cradle of Filth article (which I found a link to on another article), and it did not have an article of it's own. What does this genre of music sound like?

I've actually never heard of that genre, I'm guessing it's pretty much the same as Black Metal or Gothic Metal.

Atmospheric with keyboards and down tuned guitars.

Sounds like it may be a cross between Goth metal/ electronica and black/death metal. I've never heard of that particular genre, myself.
