Sexuality and gender identity are two separate topics.

When someone gets gender reassignment surgery, their attraction to a gender can stay the same of change.

So yes, you can be homosexual, have a gender change and then be straight. The reverse is also true, a straight man can become lesbians. Or a straight man can remain straight but be a woman.

Yes, they are straight. For example, if a person is born with a female body, but identifies completely as male, likes women only, and goes through all the phases of transition, then they're 100% straight male.

Actually people don't change their sexual orientation because they get a sex change. They remain what they were before the change, they just more closely match their body image after the surgery. What you are talking about is your own perceptions. I can't say how they change for you only they can.

First of all.. "Gay people" don't get sex changes.. Transsexuals and rarely, transgender people do. Their sexuality all depends on how you take their gender to be.

Personally I take any transsexual/transgender person as the gender they wish to become, not their birth gender. So if they liked the same gender based on those standards, I would consider them gay. Or straight if they liked the opposite of their desired gender.

i will put it a easy way
#1
i am a girl traped in a boys (mans) body
if i like guys
to me i am straight but to society i am gay
so when i get operation to become female
i would see my self as being more female (the same)
but to society i would then be straight

#2 and the other way around
i am a girl traped in a boys (mans) body
so if i like girls,
i see to me as a lesbian but to society i am straight
yet after operation i would then be the same for me
yet a lesbian to society

#3 what some of us do
i am a girl traped in a boys (mans) body
i like girls now by i see it as weird
to be with them as i see myself as female
but do it to fit into society in being straight
so after operation i then become female
so i then want to have sex only with men to fit into society

or #4 me
i like both genders guys girls and between
i live life my way i clam i am bisexual
yet i have had very little sex ever
this is because i see my self
as a person not as a sex object
and after operation plan to try out the body
with all genders again
if i like then i may change my way
and this is not an open invitation guys

i hope that cleared it up
transgender is different to gay
but most people think that transgenders are gay
