Obviously eatting is a bad substitute.. and gum only last for so long... i mainly smoke at work or if I go out (like to a club or bar). Got any ideas?

I only smoke about 4-6 times a day as it is.. so cutting back isnt really a good solution

Suck slowly on lemon or orange lozenges at the club.. or sip slowly on a nice cup of tea at work.. There is no easy way, my husband just said doesn't matter what you do you are going to feel like killing everyone.. he says at home go for a jog when it is really bad. I use to see people looking like skeletons while they smoked to turn me off.. Haven't had a puff in about 13 years.. Good luck..

Missy has a point & many people trying to quit use something like this. Eating fresh oranges will help eliminate the desire to smoke. Hard candys like peppermint or butterscotch, etc. when you have the urge to smoke. Most of it is mental and if you have your mind set to quit, then these things can be gradually reduced in time. eat sunflower seeds.

cut down gradually. only bring a few smokes with you not the whole pack. like if you smoke 10 a day, cut down to 9, and a week after to 8 or more if you like; cut down each week.

Slot car racing. Start by putting money aside that you would normally smoke into oblivion and eventually build a track, get some slot cars and there you have it, a healthier body and a new hobby.

or you could do some extra work then ask for promotion!!! :P
at a club, if people offer you a cig, say "i dont smoke", and not "i'm trying to quit!"

It may sound dumb, but I chewed on drinking straws. The straw simulated a cigarette and chewing on the end relieved tension. I cut my straws in half - that way I had twice as many and they weren't sticking out of my mouth too far!

Sounds crazy but i used straws. I cut them down to cigarette lengths and carried them around with me. When the urge hit i had a straw. Mainly it was just something to keep my hands busy. Ocassionally i caught myself actually hitting one like a cigarette. lol

y do people smoke anyway? it's bad for u. jus remember that everytime u put a cig. in your mouth, u are draining a piece of life out of u.
