The Walk of Fame is maintained by the self-financing Hollywood Historic Trust. In order for a person to get a star on the Walk of Fame, he or she must agree to attend a presentation ceremony within five years of selection, and a $15,000 fee must be paid to the Trust for costs such as security at the star ceremony; a 2003 FOX News story noted that the fee is typically paid by sponsors such as movie studios and record companies, as part of the publicity for a release with which the honoree is involved. On other occasions, the fee is paid by a fan club or the nominating person or organization.
However, controversy and mystery surrounds the way the "Stars" are nominated and approved, as discussed in a 2001 ABC News story that interviewed honorary Hollywood mayor Johnny Grant

NO! Donald Trump is not deserving of a star. He does have the apprentice, but that is his extent of hollywood. He is a developer, realtor and businessman. Although very successful, he is not what we would think of as a "hollywood star". If you ask me, it is not what you do, it's how many celebrities you know. This seems to be lately what is happening. People who are deserving of this honour are not getting it as fast as others. Look how long it took Regis Philbin to get a star and he has been in the entertainment industry for 10's of years. I think that Donald Trump must know somebody on the deciding committee or made a large contribution to something. Hell, maybe he paid for the star himself to look even more important.

Even though the Donald is real estate developer, I think he still deserves a star in the Hollywood walk of fame. This is because he increases tv ratings and makes people want to watch tv. I also enjoy watching his show the Apprentice because I learn alot from it.

The Donald is an icon and somewhat of a celebrity... but since he now hosts his own series, he can surely be considered a television star, fulfilling one of the requirements for such an honor !

No he doesn't. Stars on the Walk of Fame are bought this is why people like Donald Trump and Ryan Seacrest get their stars a lot faster than they deserve.

It is Walk of Fame and he IS famous, the difference is that he deserved his fame for being very intelligent and hard working, not looking good in front of the cameras ... so he deserved it more than half of the others...
