I had a twisted cord and a tread separation with a set of Michelins.

They were so slick they would lose traction in wet grass. Any time it rained I had to drastically reduce my speed. I installed a set of Goodyears and the difference was night and day.

Has anyone else had any miserable experiences with Michelins? I am not talking about Continentals that are made in Germany, or Pirrelli made in Italy... this is about French made Michelins that half the drivers in the world swear by.

Anyone had any tire brand that was over-rated, overpriced, worthless junk?

Lets vent!

hey, those Goodyear Viva II tires were only @$75 each.. 75 x 4 = $300

I can cruise 80-90 mph with ease in rain as long as the road is nicely drained... just don't want to hit any standing water at that speed!

hey, when those Michelins were tearing up the wet grass in the yard they had enough tread depth to pass a state safety inspection...

If you were riding on slick tires it does not make any difference what brand they were.

Last set of Michelins i had got 90k, but i do agree they are a little over priced.

Michelin is now coming out with a new type of tire called a PAX run flat tire. ABSOLUTE JUNK! sure you can drive a ways with a flat but good luck finding a tire shop with a special pax tire machine. A lot of dealers are just giving customers four new regular tires and rims when a customer comes in with a flat pax tire. ohh did i mention pax tires have to be mounted on special rims. with special tools? in an alignment class i attended recently the instructor showed us the pax system... took him 3 hours to change the tire.. gotta love michelin.... sorry for rambling.

I know i have some z-rated tires on my mustang those are some really not cheap tires like 200 bucks a tire and they are so bad i can't turn i have like no traction on dry roads and wet weather for get about even trying to drive it not going to put z-rated back on there but they where like a week old when i got the car so just waiting for them to wear out oh and they are supposed to only last like 18,000 miles i take cheap hard tires over those over priced soft tires that suck

i agree. your paying for the name and that won't save you in the event of weather related accidents. i have always purchased Toyo tires. actually, the ultra 800's have an awsome tread pattern, and an even better wear rating. and handled great in the snow and rain!!

I asked the local tire shop guy what he would recommend. He said "I drive on Gislaveds. My mother-in-law drives on Michelins."
