Channel Four recently aired a show called "Dispatches" which showed footage of Islamic clerics a) condoning and actively encouraging the murder and decapitaion of non muslims b)encouraging domestic violence against women and children c) glorifying the 7/7 attacks d) encouraging the congreagation to ignore British law e) demanding the creation of a separate "sharia" state within the UK.

Hardly any press coverage at all, no-one bats an eyelid........The fat gobby thing and an actress have a catfight, the red-tops go crazy, people start burning things in the street (again), the issue is raised in the house of commons to the Prime Minister himself and the Chancellor of the Exchequer has to face questions in India.

My question.....double standards anyone????

Some of you are missing the point here. My point is that certain groups in this country can say what they like while others can be publicly vilified for an off-the-cuff remark.

Jade Goody's treatment of Shilpa Shetty was not based on racism. It was a class difference which led to bullying. I would much rather be called a skirt wearing, haggis chasing Scotsman than have my civil liberties taken away and seeing the murder of my people glorified.

Well, millions of people watched big bro and complained about it in record numbers. Big bro also caused a minor diplomaic incident. I don't think many people watched dispatches, they'd much rather watch the gobby thing; sign of the times I think.

By the way, I didn't think the documentary was that good, it was very one sided. Did you seriously expect that not a single cleric or elder would be spouting this drivel? I think the problem is limited to only a few places, one thing the program didn't mention. I can wholeheartedly say that as a Muslim I do not share the principles of these people, I was as disgusted as you are, as were many other British Muslims. May I ask, did you notice that there were some British Muslims on the program actually condemning what was being said? Or did you choose to ignore that part?

yes double standards as always

its like everyone is scared to say anything about then for fear of upsetting them.

but islamic fundamentalist have nothing to do with India..... who are mainly Hindu, they are more from Pakistan .........who are mainly muslim

not that i think Jade's behaviour was acceptable but if it had been the other way round then not much of an issue would have been made of it, if it had been the actress having a go at the gobby thing then there would have been some 'acceptable explanation' as to why it happened

craaaaaaazy world, i reckon the lunatics have taken over the asylum

The Jade thing is out of all proportion to what was essentially cat fight between the girls. The Dispatches thing is no better and should be viewed with a knowing eye.
Both of them are an example of the media influencing the public.I thought the media was supposed to report the news not make it up.

Still that's what you get when the media aims it output at the lowest common denominator. Ratings are everything and the truth forgotten.

We only have ourselves to blame, we don't have to buy the red tops or watch red top TV or even believe everything they try to spoon feed us.

I think not giving these hate filled people any publicity is the correct approach - it should be extended to Big Brother - don't vote in it, don't watch it and with any luck they might have to make some decent television. Anything with a plot!

I think it is because Moslims own the media.
They bought most of the shares.
