i love the show american idol, i mean really love it. but i feel sometimes it sends people off. how do they make it when most of them can't hit a note?! it's like each season the talent fades away. it seems as if it's becoming more of a comedy than a talent show. we wanna hear people that can actually SING!! personally, i think the show fell off after the third season (when fantasia won) carrie underwood and taylor hicks are good singers but i don't think they deserved to win. but that's just how i feel. i auditioned for american idol last summer and unfornately i didn't make it but i will again this year however i can sing and a lot of excellent singers don't make it. as much as i love to laugh at those who make a fool out of themselves but after a while it gets tiring and there needs to be more competition. America, step up your game.

I still find it hard to believe that those rediculous performers actually think they are good. I'm not at all interested in the world of performance and singing, but I know a decent voice when I hear it and I know that I can't sing so it just seem unimaginable to me that nobody has told these people or they don't know themselves.

Well, good luck to you. I wached the first night, and about half of the 2nd night. I can't believe that there are so many people who really think they can sing. And sing well enough to win this competition.
It takes some talent, a good voice and a lot of spirit to win, and some of these people have none of that.
I think that parents should just tell their kids that while they love 'em to death, they may not be good enough to win. They shouldn't discourage kids from trying, but should let them know what could happen.
I think that Simon got a little carried away, but overall, where was the talent? where were the people who could actually sing? Seattle was by far, the worst competition I have ever seen. I hope the auditions get better in Memphis.

if the people who clearly have no talent would stop going and trying out it would be better
