Assuming that you mean Four-Year UNIVERSITIES, the entry requirements should be more restrictive such as before the 1970's when it seemed to become "law" that everyone chould enter the upper-division university programs whether they had the demonstrated abilities or not.

The Higher Education System should return to admission requirements that are not watered down....and that includes athletes as well as anyone. There are people entering college who are in college courses that begin with..."this is a noun, this is a verb." It is ridiculous. That manner of knowledge should have been mastered by 5th grade! We have lost the standards that made having a college degree something to be respected. We have allowed universities to be nothing more than sporting arenas for our entertainment and to be a 4-5 year party with an expensive cover-charge. If one can PAY, one can get in.

And stop having GRAD ASSISTANTS teaching classes and using just video tapes. Why spend $20K in tuition when you never get to have a discussion with a PhD or EdD? I guess if someone could get the accreditation, you could get your college degree simply by ordering DVDs from FLIX!

The above answer is woefully incorrect. It already is funded (cripes, what I could do with $10,000+ per child per year!)
The way to fix it is the way the government has insisted that anything else, from the phone company to Microsoft, be fixed: introduce competition. Currently, the public schools are the only game in town. Private schools are reserved for those wealthy enough to afford them. The overwhelming majority of parents who want a better education for their children can't get one because their children MUST go to one school only, and if it's messed up, well, tough beans, parent. The parent has no choice. However, EVERY move to allow the parent a choice in how this money is spent on the child is voted down by every politician who greatly wishes to not anger the great gods, uh, I mean, the education unions.
I worked in education. Believe me when I say that the administrations are NOT interested in the children learning. Some teachers are; many teachers are not. When one is looking at $10,000 per child per year, guess what they're really concerned with.

I think we might have to start by fixing the "lower" education system. A higher quality of incoming student would do a lot for higher education.

Then we have to stop worshipping anthletes and entertainers over people who actually have brains and a work ethic, but that's another rant.

Hello,

Get the government out of our lives!!!!

Stop paying these anti American professors this enormous amount of money, reduce the tuition for incoming students, and let our nation be great once again.

Also, let more parents, parent their children and let each parent decide where they want their children to enroll in school, i.e. public, private or homeschooling.

Hope this helps you..................

P.S. GET RID OF THE TEACHERS UNIONS!! They alone are allowing crappy teachers to stay in our schools and rape and molest our children.
