you are talking about the NEW beetle i presume ? i'm not overly familiar with it.But i understand it's a volkswagen Golf with a different body .
I have driven many different cars over many years and i find cars made in Japan the absolute best. Some japanese cars are made over here , they are not as good. You can tell by the serial number where a car was made. A dealer can help you there. But leave your credit card at home when you go talk to them the first time. And never sign ANYTHING UNTIL YOU KNOW what you want and how much is a fair price. Good luck

Herbie - Beep, Beep.
I love these cars. I'd get one, but I think there's only so much cutsie-putsie stuff I could take. Plus, they attract so much attention, and I can't stand being center of attention. It would be like wearing my Ferrari Yellow shoes everyday; and that would get old. Some thrive on this and it works great with their personality.
Other idea's: Volkswagon Jetta ... or my favorite, the honda hybrid.

the new beetle seems like a girl car, the old one seems like a guy car, my Sister actually got the first "new Beetle" in San Diego when she was like 17. She liked it, till one day out of nowhere it started over heating, a few minutes later she was watching it burn to the ground. Even though that happened to my sister i heard it was a fluke.

Considering it would be your first car I would suggest that rather than a Beetle you look at the Honda Civic, or such as aChevy Z-24 (if you like abit of a sporter model).

I loved them when i was in sixth grade, but i still think they're cute. They're just not the type of car i'd want. Since they do look a little small and cant have many ppl riding in it

the beetles are old cars (i don't even think they are in current production) but pretty reliable. I love chevy but that is Ford's EVIL side. Its expensive to buy a car just get one you feel comfortable with.
