If you have a way to remove the ball, then you can clean the rollers inside the mouse.
On a separate mouse for pc's, they have a retaining ring on the bottom that can be removed, then the ball can be removed and the rollers can be cleaned. Whenever these types of mouse start to go crazy, that's what's wrong with them --- they're dirty!
See if you have a removable ring on top of the ball that can be removed. If so, then clean the rollers - you'll see a lot of black and brown crusty looking stuff wrapped around them and stuck on them, get it off with a q-tip or your fingernail.
It should work correctly after that.

I am assuming that you are referring to a handheld mouse and not the touchpad.
When a mouse does what you are describing, it usually means something is interferring with the sensor.
If your mouse uses a roller ball, turn the mouse over, take the ball out and clean it with some isopropal alcohol. Blow or gently use compressed air to clean inside the mouse.
If your mouse is an optical or laser, make sure the bottom sensor is clean. Also, some of these mice can be distracted by patterns on your mouse pad or desk surface. If this is your problem, try a solid-colored mouse pad.

A couple of suggestions. Make sure your mouse is on a pourous surface and not a smooth surface like a desktop. Second, it may be dirty. Turn the plastic thing CCW and the little mouse ball will fall out. Clean it with alcohol and then take a Q-Tip and with a bit of alcohol clean the little metal contacts inside the mouse where the ball sets against....

The mouse on my Dell Latitude used to go berserk and move all over the screen and even open up windows by itself. The thing had to be repaired by Dell with a new keyboard and some plastic sheeting they put near the touch pad. A real piece of junk in my estimation. And oh, don't bother to call their support line unless you are a corporate customer because they dump you off to some bozo in India.

I am not a ghost buster but it sounds to me like you have a ghost in your computer. I have not ever heard of the mouse refered to as a mice before.
I am sorry sometime mine will do what it want to do too. Don't know exactly why but I think it can be cause by a virus or sometime it can be other things.
Go to start click on start then go to help and support click on it then look through help and support until you have location what you are look for.

More than likely the mouse has gone bad...Cheap ones will do that...Either replace it with a good one such as a Logitech MX310, or buy a cheap $10 one to replace it...
I've had tracking lazers go out on me before along with buttons...
But if you want, first try to reinstall the mouse drivers and see if that fixes it...

If it is an external optical mouse, then put it on a non glossy surface, such as a sheet of paper or a cloth, or a towel

Sounds like your mouse has a problem. It needs professional cleaning.

If it is a old mouse and has those little balls and wheels inside, they might need cleaning.
