this can only be done if you can find a car that was a standard shift ,and it has to like or similar to the one you have and even then its going to be hard to swap out, there's a lot of parts to swap out on it if you decide to do this and can find a transmission that would fit it,,i don't know of any new yorkers that were standard shift though, and i have been in this for a long time,,good luck with it,i hope this help.s.

No, you are barking up the wrong tree. The bell housing would have to be changed to take a standard transmission, you also have the pedal and all linkages, plus the gear shift and all linkages. There may need to be computer changes and rerouting. You would be better to go to a better quality transmission shop and start over.

new yorkers only came manual.but a trannyshop could tell what type of standardwould fit but with what it would cost to due the switch over, tranny, clutch, pedals, cables, slave cylinders, shifter and cutting the floor and firewall to make everything fit you can just buy a stickshift car cheaper, you are looking at a minimum of 1800-2500 if you can find a shop to due it plus the money for parts

Don't waste your time and money on the conversion from auto to stick, just get the auto fixed or junk/sell as is and get something else. The older cars get the more things go wrong, so you are just pouring money into money pit if you go too far.

Dude...you would be THOUSANDS of dollars ahead by simply buying another vehicle with a manual shift or buying another transmission.
