The offense was driving on suspended license.. Please help

My God, that's a high bail for a misdemeanor charge! In most place an inmate can ask for a bail reduction every 2 weeks, on their own. It is a "Pro Se" motion. If she has access to a law library, she can get the appropriate form there. The grounds would be for excessively high bail, which is beyond defendant's means, and inappropriate to the charge. $20,000. for a suspended license is ridiculous, unless there are other charges involved-like vehicular homicide.

She can make a pro se motion for a bond reduction, but the judge may not hear it. More than likely the prosecutor will object. If she does file a pro se motion, she'll have to have a pretty good reason. Having a job to go to or kids to take care of will help her case, but may not affect the judge, depending on her charges and criminal history. She'll have to wait for the court to appoint the public defender, which will most likely happen on her first appearance in court when she is arraigned.
