most pulled muscles they only prescribe rest and an anti-inflamatory medication such as tylenol or motrin. alternate heat and cold packs for 20 min durations for relief. take the tylenol as directed and avoid overusing your neck. if it hurts don't do it. also, you could try muscle creams or rubs if you choose to. a dr might prescribe a muscle relaxer if its really tight but those cause drowsiness. if the sprain was in another area you could soak it with epsom salt which will help it heal faster. if you wanted to try it, buy epsom salt (dirt cheap anywhere even dollar stores) dissolve it in really warm water and use a wet washcloth dipped in the solution changing it frequently. hope that helps :)

A doctor might prescribe rest and ice packs for the first 2-3 days and an NSAID for analgesia. After the first 3 days heat to the affected area helps with pain and brings blood to the area. Gentle stretching of the muscle helps. If there are muscle spasms a muscle relaxant might be prescribed. If the strain/sprain is unusually severe, electrical stimulation might be appropriate. It really depends on the severity of the injury.

Ibuprofen. It's a pretty good thing for muscle aches. You can buy it at the drug store and you can take a pretty good amount of it. There is no treatment for pulled muscles.

Those heat wrap things are good too. They come in a box and last for about 10 hours. I play baseball in a 40 and over league and we all swear by them!

DO NOT use Tylenol (acetaminophen) for this type of pain. the reason is that prolonged use can severely damage your kidneys. there are several cases of people having to go on dialysis from overuse.

A doctor wouldn't prescribe anything that could be potentially addictive, they'd just say, take some Advil and put ice on it.

A chiropractor would adjust you and educate you ways to prevent a pulled muscle.

For pulled muscles, most doctors use R-I-C-E therapy.
R - Rest
I - Ice
C - Compression
E - Elevation

Compression would be hard to do on the neck without causing further injury. Also ibuprofen may help somewhat. Hope you get better soon!

It depends on how bad the pain is. A doctor might prescribe a high dosage (800mg) of motrin.

possibly painkillers of some sort but they cant prescribe anything to fix it. it has to heal on its own. alternate ice and heat on it and if it hurts a lot try acupuncture to treat the muscle and take ibuprofen which can help reduce the swelling.
