you can get a 512 mb stick of RAM at best buy for about $50. you will need a KByte 184 pin DIMM, PC400/333, 3200/2700. when you get it, you just go to their website and print off the install guide. if you want to go dual channel, you buy 2, install one, reboot your computer, remove the one that you didn't install, put the other stick in and reboot again. trust me, it sounds more complicated than it is. just make sure to unplug the power before opening the case.
if you don't know how to open the case, reach around the back and just below the 120mm fan is a tab, you simply push that down and slide the side of the case back about an inch and a half by the handle (divots in the side), once it is as far back as it will go, you just pull it up and off. once that is done the RAM slot is in the upper right of the motherboard.

First, Open your computer. Then find your RAM, it's no bigger then a pencil. When you find it it'll say something on it. Find the words on it that start with PC. Like mine is PC2700 and is a DDR. Then go to www.newegg.com I bought my 1gb from there. 256MB of ram costs no more then 40 bucks and isnt recommend if you play a lot of games. If you buy 1gb you wont need anymore for a few years. I bought mine for $104.00 from newegg. It's very simple and easy to do. I hope I explained it good. =)
