No, not really. You normally hang out with people who are in your same major in college, and that's about the closest thing you have to a clique, unless you're in a frat or sorority. One of the best things about college is that you get to meet all sorts of people from different backgrounds, locations, and mindsets.

I think when people leave the highschool atmosphere, those things tend to fade away. However, in college, people are trying to meet new people and so when they do, you're going to find that they're going to be drawn to people they view as equal to them. Unfortunately, it usually starts out with what they look like or how they dress. So it will probably look like the same types of cliques but with less of the attitude involved in highschool cliques.

There is high school cliques in Kindergarten. Popularity now starts in Kindergarten. There are also cliques in college and in the work place. People who aren't fully mature wanna feel good about themselves so they are the ones in the mean cliques. The people who want friends like themselves are in circles of friends but its not necessarily cliques. To most people cliques mean groups of people who aren't always nice and are popular. Isn't it funny how the popular kids are the ones who aren't liked by most people.

There are cliques throughout life. However it is your choice whether you bend to their will or not.
Use your time at college to try ALL the different cliques. You will have a better life for it.

People become more independent in college and people focus more on their futures and careers then they do about cliques. It's not like being in a popular group will help you write your 20 page essay any faster.

That kind of nonsense disappears for almost 90 percent of us after high school. Only the frat boys and soro girls hang on to that notion - and the rest of us just laugh at them. College is way different than high school - most of us are too worried about what we will do the rest of our lives.
