To begin a cartwheel, stand in a lunge; your "favorite" leg in front, knee bent slightly, arms up by your ears.

Let's assume you are a right sided gymnast; if you're a lefty, simply reverse these directions. Reach forward with your right arm, kicking your left leg up as you do so. The left hand should follow very quickly, and as it touches the ground, your right leg should be off of the ground also. You should pass through a straddle handstand briefly. Your left leg will reach the ground 1st, followed by the right, which you will place in back, finishing in a lunge, just as you started, but with the opposite leg in front.

The trick, really, is the rhythm of the skill, which is 1,2,3,4, or "hand, hand, foot, foot", and getting through vertical. Most gymnasts tend to kick around the side when they are first learning this skill. Take your time, and be careful.

Handstand:

Find an area at least 3 meters by 3 meters that is even, smooth and clean.
Stand straight up, lift your hands above your head, and swing them downwards in front of you. Lower your upper body towards the ground as you do this.
As your hands touch the ground and you transfer your weight from legs to hands, kick your feet up (one right after the other) so that they come at least above your head. This is the most difficult part and most people do not kick their legs up hard enough for fear of overshooting and flipping over. Instead, however, they end up with their feet back on the ground.
Once you are in the upside down vertical position, move around on your hands to balance yourself until you are steady. Use your hands and your natural sense of balance to move around and stay upright. See the Tips below.
Slowly bend your knees so that your feet hang over your head. This helps you to balance much better than having your legs extended straight above you. With enough practice (and it takes a lot of practice), you will be able to hold handstands as long as you want, and even walk around on a handstand

To do a cartwheel if your right handed...stand with your feet shoulder width apart and your extended above your head. You will lean to your right and push off with your left foot. You should put your right hand down then your left hand and momentum should bring you around putting your left foot down then your right.
To do a handstand...Stand facing forward and take one step forward with either your left or right foot. Place both hands on the ground and push your legs up into the air but only hard enough to get them up into the air. You don't want to push so hard that you flip all the way over.

Cartwheel: stand up straight. place your good leg in front (u might want to try both to find your good leg if you don't know which one it is yet). then with the hand on the same side as your good leg place that hand down in front of it (not right next to your foot(a little space out)) sort of turning your body so you kind of hit a hand stand while putting your other hand down and as the first hand went down your back leg comes up and as your 2nd hand goes down your second foot begins to come up.(transfer the weight from your feet on to your hands) and the original back leg then becomes the front one.etc. i hope i helped. remember to keep it flowing or it will be made a lot harder. the best way to get any skill is to practice. Good Luck w/Cheerleading!

It helps if your head is heavier than
your feet.
The last time I did a headstand, I left
footprints on the ceiling.
As I recall, it was New Years.
Hostess was not overly impressed.

Not by spending time on Yahoo answers. Go outside, get some fresh air, and give it a try.
