It usually smudges like that due to some sort of moisture, whether it be involuntary light tears, or moisture in the air, if you use powdered concealer, rub some on your bottom lid right beneath your lower eyelashes, anything in powder form should keep the area dry, so no smudges

Eye makeup is known to fade over hours. water proof is a good idea but when you want it to come off, it takes more work. i get mascara and eyeliner darkness under my eyes a lot too. but i stopped putting eyeliner on the bottom lid. i always rubbed the bottom of my eyes with my fingers once in a while, and it went away. i don't think you're problem is the company of makeup. there is no cure - i think.

I've heard of very oily faces having difficultly keeping make up on. Another factor is if you just are dozing in class and keep your eyes covered with you hand... that's my problem. LOL! Also exercising and all of the sweating/moistness that comes along with it can have an effect.

That used to happen to me because I had oily skin..somehow affected my eye makeup even!! they have eye makeup "sealers". There's a good one from Benefit Cosmetics. It's clear.
