For one thing, quit adding that crap to the gas. Just buy name brand fuel and the detergents in it will take care of all that stuff just fine. Take a look at the plugs. If they're 80,000 miles old, change them in any case.

I own one an 98 S-10 also. The plugs are difficult to remove. Take both front tires off and pull out the plugs through the upper a arm rubber boots on each side. Where the steering shaft comes down on the left side can be a big problem You'll need a 3/8 shallow deep-well socket to get that particular plug. If you have or can borrow an induction timing light that has leads to the battery try this: With the truck running, put the induction wire clamp on one spark plug wire at a time. You will notice that the timing light flashes. When you get to the bad cylinder the light will not flash. Pull the plug and check it out . You may want to run a compression test on that cylinder. It should be at least 110 lbs. Good Luck.

first you need to clarify skipping . do you mean it has a missfire ,meaning , does it feel like it's running on 5 cylinders instead of six. ? is the check engine light on?. If the truck has high miles then replace the distributor cap & rotor they are prone to moisture . any other diagnosis requires the use of a scanner to pinpoint the missfiring cylinder. depending on your mileage it could be a spark plug that's fouled , an open ignition wire, or low cylinder compression. good luck .

i own a repair shop, and you may be adding to much cleaner to it,,also you may need need plugs and wires on it ,if its missing this is usually the cause of it,,other than internal problems,,but its probably just in need of a good basic tune-up,,you,ll know if you pull a spark plug out of it,this will tell you if it needs new ones or not,,but that should help it a lot,,and don't dope it to death,,too much of that cleaner isn't good for it,,good luck i hope this help,s.
