Which oil compartment? If is is a car then youi mean the sump and you take it off and clean it and put it back with a new gasket. If it is not a car I cant help you

The easiest way is to use an engine flush additive, but that carries the danger of breaking-up the sludge and carrying it into small galleries and oilways and starving parts of your engine of lubrication. Far better not to have allowed the engine to sludge-up in the first place.

Drain the oil fill engine with a flushing oil , it is designed to melt sludge and hold it untill it is drained,run engine on tickover for about a quarter of and hour drain , then refill with new oil

I have a feeling you may be talking about the valve (rocker) cover and if so then just remove it and clean it out with parafin or kerosene.

Why is there sludge in there?

i own a repair shop,and i have has to take the oil pan off before to clean it out real good,and i use kerosene and let it run down through the engine,,this helps clean it out real good,,some of them are real hard to get clean,,it all depends on what kind of oil it has has ran it before,but either way you look at it,it a mess to clean up,,good luck,i hope this help,s.

Well to be on the safe side as the guy who owns a repair shop,,I have heard that you can get a complete engine flush,,but it might set you back a few bucks,,,I don't know,but I have heard of using kerosene,

Must order it online...... but autorx... its slow, effective, and UN-harmful..... its a slow cleaner... slow is good, fast harsh cleaners can and may break loose large chunks that can clog the oil pump pickup.....
