I personally do not think you would be viewed as a wimp. But as a pre-warning people will certainly make jokes about if. If you are confident in yourself and can take jokes then go for it! Also, of course, make sure that it is something that she would prefer. Maybe she wants to take your name. But if she prefers you to take hers and you do not mind doing so then do it! it is a very kind gesture that i am sure she will appreciate. It's not that you are a wimp, it is that you truly love your wife: that's something to be respected.

The tradition is that in marriage she joins your family, and thus takes your name.
Personally, I would view you as a wimp because you're ready to forsake your family's name to demonstrate love to someone who should know you love them. If you are ready to ditch your own lineage, it is meaningless that you join hers.
Just be as good a husband as you can be. Demonstration of love is a moment by moment thing, not just symbolism.

Oh do it you won't be a wimp. Just make sure her name is better than your current or equal, unless hers is really geeky.

I don't think so. What's the big deal? Women have been taking their husbands names for....oh, centuries.
Who gives a rat's ****?
You do what you want to do and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Do what works for you both, it makes no difference to anyone and it's your and your future wife's private business.

No, but you can expect that many (maybe even most) people won’t understand why you felt compelled to do it. You could (both) always hyphenate it.
