I was wondering that.
The 8.30 show tonight was cynically 'staged', and fabricated.
It would have been better if Channel 4 apologised, rather than get the contestants to backtrack.
I have to say, I didn't think Shipla's reaction was sincere.

Let's not forget that a lot of the racist comments were made behind her back, it would be interesting to see what she thinks once she will have seen the whole footage.
It was actually quite convenient for BB that Shilpa decided all of a sudden that Jade was not racist.
Anyway, I think Jo and Danielle are probably even worse than Jade!

I think Shilpa is a rational and intelligent woman who reached her conclusion because she is not aware of all the nastiness that has gone on behind her back and has the good grace to give her tormentors the benefit of the doubt. No money was involved, she is just a clever and dignified Lady, unlike Jade and Co.

No - they get paid in the beginning of the show and that's it. No-one is making any money off of this show - their biggest sponsor pulled out and C4 donated tonight's entire profits to charity - so you know that there's no way they paid her extra.
I think Shilpa had a clue as to what might be going on in the outside world and that's why she said that. I don't think anyone told her. I think she figured it out, knowing that the only parts of the show which would make it onto TV are the parts where they are all fighting.

Not really because Chanel 4 Chief was fuming when he did the news press interview yesterday. I do say that the one who should of gone was Jermain Jackson, he is a SH@t Stirrer. How very dare he call white people TRASH. He was the first to start the remarks to Jackie's mom and now poor Jade had all the flack.

I very much doubt she was paid, but she was certainly put in an situation in the diary room where she was under a lot of pressure (on live TV) to say that she didn't think it was racist.
As someone else said, just because Shilpa was bullied by Channel 4 and Endemol into claiming it wasn't racist, doesn't mean it wasn't.

not paid but they probably whispered to Shilpa in the Diary room to play down the argument because the ratings gamble was taking a lot out of Jade's career....

That's a very good question.
But anyway, even if she were, I still think, for the brief moment I watched the show tonight, that she behaved extremely well, considering the situation.
Being bullied by a gang! Gosh. And not turning into a fish wife, or losing it?
No, honestly, whether she was acting or not, I call that real class. Don't think I have it though. I would have lost it big time!

May be not paid. Due to the timing of when she retracted her statement i guess they may have been involved in asking her to say that Jade was not racist. Especially for Gordon Brown's sake at the very least. Who just happens to be in India right now. his diplomatic mission being overshadowed by this...
