They tried this twice before and failed, I think you're right it was a show of power, in a way I believe they tried to make a point, or are trying to tell us they can knock down our communications and spy low orbit satellites, they used the excuse their satellite was obsolete, communists are communists I don't believe a word they say, there is a preferential market with china, we buy everything they produce and look what they came up with, we shouldn't buy a thing from them, Washington politicians are blind..☺

I would have to agree with what you said. I don't think that China is too interested in space garbage though. More like China is worried about what kind of weapon that they have their so they can shoot out others satellites. That is the first part of a war...taking out the communications.

They are not stupid at all - the US can't really expect to run outer space too.
It might also be a message to say 'Don't spy on us if you want that multi-million dollar satellite to remain in one piece'

It means they now have a way to shoot down our communication satellites if they wish, Stupid. And satellites fall through atmosphere and burn when they're shot down like that.
