he is the cook for over twenty years if I offer to cook he just laughs and what kinda of take out do you want

My husband does all the time, but he only makes like 2 things and tells me to make another side dish or 2.
Makes a huge mess and leaves it for me to clean up.

I don't have a husband. If my wife offered to cook I'd say its your job so do it. Last semester it was my job.

At that point I wouldn't care if he liked my cooking or not. I would be shocked but I would be happy.

i would not assume that if he usually eats what you cook for him. maybe he just wants to pitch in...good for him!!! :) be thankful that it is a meal that you did not have to prepare. relax and enjoy being taken care of.
