A couple received "hang-up" calls from a telemarketing firm late at night. The couple took the telemarketers to court alleging that they had invaded their privacy. In whose favor should the court rule?

How late? It is unlawful for any telemarketer to call after 9pm. When they call, make sure you speak with them, get a number (caller ID) and tell them not to call again. If the number shows up again/they call- you can report them and it's possible for them to 1) get sanctioned; and/or 2) you get damages.

First off, the telemarketers should not be calling past 9 p.m. at night (your standard time). If they do, they are breaking the law. It is considered harrassment. They can be fined a lot of money for not abiding that rule. I used to be a telemarketer, but I still believe that it is an invasion of privacy when they are calling (even with hang-ups) past the time they are allowed to call. Even bill collectors are not allowed to harrass people past a certain time! A lot of people do not know that. Take a look at the referenced website address; it explains what Clinton signed back in the 90s.

The court should rule in favor of the couple against the telemarker because of the latness of the call. I thought there was a maximum time set at 9 PM that a telemarketer could place a call.

i think the only thing they might have to stand on iswhat time it was. I think that there is a time that they have to stop calling. maybe like 8 pm but not sure.
Also, were they able to prove that it was the same telemarketer each time?

Dont know?
