Right-click on the desktop and then left-click on PROPERTIES.
Go to "Settings" and check the resolution: should be 800x600 or 1024x768 for a 15" screen, and 1280x1024 for a 17" or larger screen.
If this doesn't help, click on the "Advanced" button in the lower right of the same window you were in to change the screen resolution (Settings). Under the "General" tab, make sure the text size is no larger than 96 DPI (dots per inch). That setting won't take effect until you restart windows.
That's your best bet. If that still doesn't work, go to the Start Menu and the Control Panel, and click on "Accessibility Options." under the "DISPLAY" tab, make sure the "Use High Contrast" option is turned off. Click on the "settings" button for more information.
Good luck!

OR it could simply be the mouse you are using has an enlarging button on it....does the screen look like it has a large rectangle magnifying glass over it...and does it move when you move the mouse? If so it probably is the mouse button that is on the left SIDE of the mouse.....click it again to go back to normal if it is.........otherwise the answers above are your best bet.

she might have resized your font... go to format > font and change the size to around 12 (if your in notepad or other similer writing text applications) otherwise look for font in all the sub-options near the header bar. its nothing thats not reversible so dont freak...youll find out how to fix it. look at the bright side now you have a new computer and a good reason to look around at your options and what you can do with it. If you think your kid only pushed a button to do that then it just very well may be your caps lock is on...but judging by your questions text it isnt...OR IT WOULD LOOK LIKE THIS!!!

Go to the start menu on the bottom left of your computer screen and click on it. Then click on control panel. Then click on display. Then click on the appearance tab. There you can click on font size and choose how large or small you want the computer text to be. Or check and see if the cap lock is off on your keyboard. I hope this works for you. Enjoy!!

It's most likely the monitor. Now it all depends on the buttons that are on monitor. There might be an "Auto" button or "DEFAULT".
But it can also be a computer. Sometimes when some part of computer is shot down it does that. You should restart the computer and see if it works.
I hope your problem will be figured out!!!

If it's in Word.....Right click your mouse....
click on font. and change font size. For existing text, highlight it and do the same.
If its your desk top....it could be one of two things.
click on start, go to control panel, click on display, click on display properties.
Click on appearance... you'll find a font option.
Click on the arrow at the right hand side of this. ...this gives you a drop-down menu.
Choose normal. This may solve your problem.
If it doesn't, follow the same steps until you reach display properties.
Click on settings, then advanced.
You'll find another drop -down menu titled DPI settings.
Click on arrow, then click on normal.
Good luck. i hope this fixes it for you. re computing...don't give up. Everybody goes through growing pains at the beginning! And don't get frustrated if it eats up your time...look on it as a good investment!-sw

Your display options were altered. I would try to revert back to the original Windows XP theme (assuming you're using windows XP)
Go to Start.. Control Panel... select "Appearance and Themes"
then select "change the computer's themes". You should default to the Themes tab and there will be a drop down menu that you can click on and select "Windows XP" theme - that should bring your computer back to its original theme.
