I have been playing the Clarient for 5 years and I am cosidering switching to a different instrument like the Trumpet sice the clarinet and trumpet are both b flat and play in the treble clef. Do you think it'd be a good idea??

Thank you guys!

Well it really depends how much you like playing the clarinet. They're very different instruments and the fact they're both in B flat is really not that relevant when you're playing (unless you're advanced and are transposing music in orchestra). The fact they're both in the treble clef will help you read, but lots of other instruments use the treble clef too. Maybe try playing a trumpet and see what you think.

That's a pretty big change. If you want to stick to B flat instruments, the soprano sax or tenor sax might be an easier transition, but of course it's up to you. If you don't enjoy playing the clarinet, the most important thing is to choose an instrument you will enjoy.

Well, it would be easier, since you wouldn't have to transpose the music or anything, but you could try something where you can carry you clarinet skills with you, like the saxophone or bass clarinet, then you wouldn't have to throw away everything you learned about the clarinet and start over.

Sax!

It's not that different, and with your years of experience, it should be fairly simple to adjust.

Besides, when you're at a party, and there's a band, they'd love to have you join them with a sax, not a clarinet.
