Try and find something that isn't too difficult, for example with no big jumps between notes and maybe not too big a range overall. Also maybe choose something that isn't all that well known.

Any part is a good part if you make it your own! I was a witch in the Wizard of Oz...boring right...NO it was the talk of the musical.
I ware a floppy hat and rode a vacuum cleaner. See, make it your own.
As far as singing in the musical...not all good parts are sung.
If you want to sing something and are not really good...see if there is a part of a person that is kinda silly and try out for that one. In high school I had to sing at a hillbilly wedding...OMG it was so loud and off key everyone loved it. Not the staring part but people still talk about it today...I sang I Love You Truly...so you see it is not the best parts that stay in your mind years later...it is the one lines that stand out. OH and one more thing I did...I was a hanging head in the closet...all I had to do was have my head through a hole and my hair hanging on a nail...but man could I scream...LOL

Sorry, but the good parts are not supposed to be given to those who don't sing well! Can you ACT? If you can, then you should showcase those talents.

Years ago I dated a girl in the drama department who was in Fiddler On the Roof. She had an interesting part - she sat on the roof, playing the fiddle, but said nothing.

I don't think you would get a good part if you weren't a good singer...right?
