I will be 17 years old when I go to a resort in Cabo for this upcoming spring break. I'm curious if I will be able to enjoy an alcoholic beverage or two.

Yes they will check id especially during spring break. The clubs diffinately check the id so you won't beable to go to skid roe cabo wabo and giigling marlin. I hope your parents are going with you if not what is wrong with your parents allowing you to go out of the country where all there is is drinking and partying and to allow you to go by yourself so you can party is pure stupidity. Don't be too stupid or you are going to end up in jail and they do arrest alot of people during the spring break. I know about all the stuff cause I do have family that live there. Stay away from all the vendors offering drugs they are constantly trying to sell drugs on the street and they will arrest you and the police cary big machine guns or rifles unlike american police that just cary handguns.

Hola! I assume you are going with parents? At some resorts, you have to sign for any drinks you have...to a room #. If you can figure a way around this, then you are home free. Other resorts use a wristband method and you will probably get a wristband that says you are a minor. And then there are some resorts that could care less.

And hey, you may not be able to get a drink at your resort, but I can tell you nobody asks for ID at any of the establishments or clubs, restaurants, corner stores, etc.

Have fun!

I was in Cabo in January and there were not very many 18's or under, but some of our crew went into "town" and they asked for 18 at the clubs like Wabo Cabo, Margarittaville, The Giggling Marlin, El Skid Roe......so at the resorts they are less likely to care, but in town they seem to care

Most hotels enforce the 18 drinking age. If you are getting your drinks for free at the hotel then if you arent 18 then you probably wont. But if you buy your drinks at a bar or restraunt, then they will probably serve you.
Hotels dont want little inexperienced drunk minors running around getting drunk, throwing up, not knowing their limits.....
People pay good money to go and relax at their hotels and get away from stuff liek that....
Im 27 and I wouldnt appreciate it if there were 16-17 year olds drinking and getting stupid all night while im trying to relax from my job.....

Also be careful in town, the cops do carry loaded machine guns, and a little drunk 17 year old girl is a very easy target for kidnapping or worse.....

Typically at all inclusive resorts they give their guests wrist bands. The wrist bands may be different colors - one color for minors and different color for those who are over the legal drinking age... which happens to be 18 in Mexico. So - It would make it obvious that you're underage. However - sometimes bartenders have pity on you and "accidentally on purpose" slip you something mixed... If you're looking to partake in the drinking - i suggest you find a tender that is extra friendly! Make sure you tip them well so they're more inclined to server you again! Have fun but be safe!

I'm not sure what the official drinking age is, but I can tell you that they really don't care. Just be a good tipper- it doesn't take much. The people working here are very nice, especially if you are friendly with them and give them even $10 per day. Usually you'll have one person that will wait on you when you're around the pool. I know the last time I went, my guy, Alejandro, was very cool. As long as you treat them as your friend, not their servant, they're pretty accomodating. You must also remember that pretty much the only place in the world that checks IDs to drink is the US

Absolutely yes. The legal age for drinking in Mexico is 18, but actually nobody cares if you're 17 or even 16 as long as you pay for your drinks. Although, if you want to visit some clubs at night, you might find useful to bring a fake ID, just in case, but probably you won't be even asked for one. Just don't get drunk enough to do something stupid, trust me, you don't want to have any problems with local police.
