I had a hearing for my social security and the judge made a decison... How long does it take for the writers to write it up and send it to me?

The judge's secretary or law clerk prepares the written opinion for release. Usually this occurs within thirty (30) days of the decision. If you haven't received a copy of the decision within that time, call the Clerk's office and have them check on the status. The judge may not write out a full memorandum of decision, but may make just a one line ruling - sometimes called an endorsement ruling - which basically just says "Granted" or "Denied" with a short explanation, if any. Call the Clerk's office for more information.

It depends upon who was ordered to draft the OAH (order after hearing). If you're dealing with a governmental entity like SS, you're screwed- they'll take their sweet-a**ed time.
