I've never watched Pokemon, but I love DBZ. Kakerot was definitely a very good role model and an awesome fighter, probably the best refined fighter on the show. He is the answer I give to people who asked if you could have one super power, what would it be? And without a doubt it's an ascended super saiyan III like Goku.
I would say his power is only superceded by that of Gohan's, his oldest son, but Gohan didn't know how to control and elevate his power to the highest level unless he was protecting his family from harm.
