This is something you need to enquire at the school or education board. I know for a fact that a school in the UK has to give twenty-four hours to keep a child after school for dentention so parents know what is happening and where their child is. I'd imagine this would be the same almost everywhere, especially when dealing with a child as young as six.

yes for a period up to 1 hour. the child would have to have a ride home or be notified a day in advance. UNLESS the child agreed to it. in which case yes they can hold them after with no problems.

Well, I'm not sure about the rules, i guess not. Because parents worry about their children and if it's 1st grade they worry even more. If you had that problem you should contact the board of education!!!
