You obviously didn't ask me. My hobbies are skydiving, biking, swimming, white water rafting, rifle range, and writing.

If that is what they enjoy doing, then it is a hobby for them. My "work" includes taking care of the house, 2 kids, hubby, and a dog...shopping for groceries (hate "clothes" shopping), paying bills, and running errands.
My hobbies include reading, writing, photography, walking, decorating cakes, among many other things that I take enjoyment in.
The women you are asking may not understand the question, or they have lost their selfworth and/or identity to where their lives revolve around their kids and house.

The shopping part is easy: They're not shopping for groceries. Sure, if you're a guy, you see this as useless because all they do is buy useless garbage and rack up huge credit card debt, however the whole choice of the thing seems to appeal to them.
The work part is that for them work IS a hobby. For guys it is a necessary way of making a living. Basically women think they will retire in their 30s when they get married so they can enjoy this temporary excursion into play play equals.
Little do they know the marriage strike will take care of that and they'll have to support themselves into their 30s. That's when it will no longer be a hobby.

Because all BOTH of the women who said this are stupid. Seriously, you think most women would say this? Did you take a poll? Read a study? Your mom and your Great-Aunt Clair don't represent ALL women.

Because maybe they don't realize that other factors in their lives are hobbies or they think they need a hobbie to justify life or they are being scarcastic.

Just because you would not find those activities enjoyable, it doesn't mean that other people wouldn't, too.
