Minor correction: I meant to type "come to an end."

I think you mean empire or super-power, not dynasty. A dynasty is family rule- when ancestor's of the same person rule a country. There has never really been a dynasty in the US- not in the way there have been dynasties in Europe or Asia.

As far as when the superpower will fall, I guess in another 100 years or so. That's about how long Britain, Spain, Rome, etc were at their height of global domination.

Just because the US will stop being a dominate power soon doesn't mean the whole country will meet its demise, though. China has been around for thousands of years, so has India. Russia and England have both been around for nearly 2,000 years. The structure of the US may change a bit and it may fall from global power, but I don't think the country itself is going anywhere for a really long time.

I don't think there will be a, "demise" in the traditional sense. Considering modern technology, if the US were come to an end as so many other "dynasties" have, it would mean an end to mankind as whole. I think it is much more likely that; as the world becomes smaller national sovereignty will succumb to a larger entity, such as the UN. Some of the less informed among us tend think that the modern world is that much different from those eras passed, however the only difference is technological (which could in fact prove to be a major difference). If or when the US disappears it will be through the slow erosion of national sovereignty-- if not we can all kiss our asses goodbye.

We are getting dangerously close to the end of our dynasty. I doubt that we will be completely terminated, but we will no longer be the super-power we claim to be. If you note most historical dynasties, they all claim large amounts of land(which we did in the late 1800s), then they establish themselves in trade (which we did at about the same time, then a higher standard of living is reached-making many labor intensive companies inefficient). As a society desinigrates from the inside, they tend to step up the military. The last stage of a society seems to be as a military super-power.

The US will meet its demise when the people of the United States allow communication to become a one-way street, when we as individuals are no longer able to communicate freely with others world wide.
"Two basic pillars of American society - shared economic prosperity and a public sector capable of serving the common good - are crumbling. The third basic pillar of American democracy - an independent press- is under sustained attack, and the channels of information are choked." --Bill Moyers
