Is this even possible? I mean I'm taking lots of college classes right now and my desktop is so boring with all these folder icons, is there a way to for example, change the folder icon of my Rome History class to a picture of Rome? How would I do that?

First find your picture of Rome and transfer it to your My Pictures folder. Then open your desktop folder, click View, then Customize this Folder. A small window will open and it will already be on the Customize tab. About half way down you will see a Choose Picture button. Click on it and another small window will open. Find My Documents and then My Pictures. Click on your picture of Rome and then click Open. It will transfer that picture back to your Customize window. Click OK and you are done.
If you need help in getting the picture of Rome into your My Pictures folder, just email me.

right click on the folder.
goto Properties.
goto the Customize tab.
Click the Change Icon... button.

The picture must be a .ico or a .dll file. .dll files must contain icons to work so not all of them will work.

If you have another picture you would like to convert to an icon, there are free icon programs available on the Internet that can help you with that.

Hi CellBlock4 I use XP however vista will have a very similar route so just follow these instructions please. >--Save your image into my documents >--Right click the icon you wish to change >--Properties >--Change Icon >--Next to Look For Icons In This File Click Browse >--Go to mydocuments and choose the image [Note] I strongly recommend copying down where the original microsoft icons are just incase in the future you want to change it back or if you wish to change another icon Windows will direct you to mydocuments. just copy and paste the route into notepad/word so this shouldn't cause any hasstle if it does feel free to email me or ask the yahoo answers community. [ALSO] Your going to need to convert the file type to .ico standing for icon. Hope my informartion helped Best of luck Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
