i assume an identical reason that calling an aboriginal an *** is considered racist luv. The be conscious "Aussie" has continuously been used by using the inhabitants and media as being something to be happy with. there's a delight surrounding it while calling somebody a Paki or *** has purely ever been used as an insult. no longer all individuals that shorten nationalities propose it in a racist way - we Australians are used to shortening Australian to Aussie - regrettably, different nationalities don't have it as solid as what we do.

All of this has become stupid it is now not politically correct when I was young the lad over the road was just Ranjit to me I am white of Irish parents we all played together and all got in as much trouble as each other if we fell out it could be either way me calling him a paki and him me a paddy I saw him not that long ago and we were laughing about it we even joked him saying if it weren't for paki's there would be no corner shops and if not for the paddy's no roads we thought it funny only you would not dare say in front of others now as you would be classed as racist all of it has just got out of hand live and let live it don't matter what colour or religion we are all the same inside.

Well it's like calling someone a Niggah.
God forgive me for using that word. Paki is just like that.
I don't understand how you think Chinky is right to say!

No one should be offended.I don't know why it is considered racist, it's only an abbreviation of the word Pakistani which is the term for a person who is from Pakistan,in much the same way Briton is the correct term for a person who comes from Britain and is frequently abbreviated to Brit but this for some reason is not considered to be racist.Don't know why there is always such a fuss about it really

True true im with you, people take it the wrong way plus paki is a shortend version of pakistani so it is the SAME word not a "taking the piss" word.
I guess people think it's the "paki's" that bombed ect so they take offence to it thinking that we think that. ~When not everyone is the same in any culture.
When you don't mean it you get blamed for being a racist. it should stop, although there are alot of racist people out there unfortunantly.

Society dictates what is acceptable and what is not and it will continually change
Incidentally 'Paki' actually means 'pure' so it is quite ironic that if someone is deliberately trying to be racist they are actually paying a compliment - I don't know how the term became derogatory

"Paki" is short for Pakistani. Since the people of India and the people of Pakistan dislike each other, it is an insult to call an Indian a Pakistani, or Paki for short.
It's like calling a Japanese person, Chinese, or vise-a-versa. Big mistake there too.

Historically the term has generally been used as a badge of contempt from one self-proclaimed"superior" race against another.
It wasn't a factual description, it was used as a form of abuse addressed to ANY person with sub-continental roots. It was usually spoken with with hatred, with revulsion, and was intended to make the recipient feel of less worth than the speaker.
As it was not used merely to factually describe a race, but as an insult, then it is unsurprising that fair-minded people feel that it is no longer a term should be used in society. Nowadays using the word reflects the ignorance, narrow-mindedness and insularity of of the speaker.
In that sense it is useful, as its use immediately allows us to identify the racist halfwits amongst us.

Everyone is different
My mate used to say Paki shop down the road and he was Asian but it was more to distinguish what shop you wanted to go to.......
Another mate of mine used to be called a Paki and she is Indian and its one of the worst names she could be called considering they are war with each other.....India and Pakistan......
Most people don't mean it in a nasty way is like saying that ginger headed boy of that boy with funny walk.....people say the thing that everyone can see......
Perhaps we should all stop and think about what we say and if it might offend people.............
