French actors have been famous for a long time , way back it was Maurice Chevalier, Jean gabin then it was Alain Delon , Jean paul Belmondo , Catherine Denueve, Marie France Pisier , Isabelle Huppert and Beatrice Dalle to name just a few.
Air , Daft Punk, and Magma are known here.

I'm from the States but I've visited England (and France) many times. I think French actors are as popular in England as English actors are in France. However, I don't think the same is true for French music.
English pop and rock music has been a world wide phenomenon, almost in par with American music of the same genres. French music, with very few exceptions, seems to have been limited to France and a few Francophone areas of the world and thus, cannot be compared to English music.
