because they keep lowering the difficulty of the tests to make it appear that the IQ is increasing...A student with a high IQ today would have great difficulty with a similar test given 50 or 60 years ago.
The same is true with SAT tests as well. If they didn't do that there would be no one in universities today.
You young people may not agree with me and give thumbs down...but go do some research and you will see it is true.

Are you sure there were IQ tests 100 years ago? I would speculate the change in scores is because the test has changed.

Because the standards get lower and lower every year. when people start to fall behind, rather than make them catch up to everyone else, we just lower the standard, then we all look smart again!

mandatory public education until 16 yrs of age...better documentation. 100 yrs ago you could forge a birht certificate for anyone. today they can track you down! Also, they're more prevalent than 100 yrs ago, it's more standardized

I'm not sure it has. I once saw an 1890 10th grade graduation test that most college juniors couldn't pass.
