Well first of all, I'm not against being gay or anything, it's just that I think that it is wrong and I wouldn't ever turn gay. Personally, I don't think that gay marraige should be banned because, to God, it is wrong, but you know how it says in the Bible [I'm a Muslim by the way, I am just interested in all religions and that they are all great religions, don't worry I'm not against any of the religions at all.] that being gay is wrong? And that gay people should be punished? I just feel that it is the person's decision on whether or not they would like to take this chance. But I really just think that banning gay marraige is stupid, no matter what it goes against, even if it goes against my religion; any religion really. If people would like to be gay, then by my guest.(:

It is not wrong -- and I think you are way too young to discuss this with adult gays & lesbians.
Most of your text makes absolutely no sense!

Personally it irks me that people confuse LEGAL marriage with Religious marriage.
In the USA we have a thing called "Seperation of Church and State" we also have "Freedom of religion" which does indeed translate to "Freedom From Religion" as well.
Our laws are NOT based on any one religious view, to the shagrin of so many "socalled Christians."
Our laws are based on a Humanistic approach.
Legal marriage is just that, a legal contract that protects the couple/the family, ensures benefits and priveledges and provides a level of protection that being single does not.
Gays and lesbians DO indeed raise families, so their families should not be legally denied those same protections afforded to opposite-sex couples/families.
I also personally feel it's inhumane to allow this sort of descrimination based completely on other people's religious views.

i know a lot of gay people and one of their reasons for wanted to get married is so they can visit them in the hospital if something life threatening happened. lets say i was gay and my lover got in a horrible car accident and she was on life support. i couldn't see her or anything because i am not family, or her spouse.
yes according to the church married is a sacred bond between a man and a woman. but not every marriage ceremony is performed in a church, and not everyone even believes in religion or church. So why can't they have a civil union. considering a whole hell of a lot of marriages happen in Justice of the peace anyway.
i say let them be miserable like the rest of us married folk. he he
if you don't believe how you live your life is "unholy" then it's not. no one has the right to tell you that just because you are gay and you want to be legally married to your soul mate. if they care so much about the sanctity of god then maybe they should worry about their own soul. and just leave everyone else the hell alone!!
no one is better than anyone else just because one person's God(who has never been proven to exist) says so.

All people should have the right to live and love who they want as a life partner whether they are hetero or gay. Who speaks for God? No one can speak for God, we are all mortal. If God made us all like every religion says, then God made gays and heteros with the idea that we are all equal. Humans have no business legislating love between two people.

Gay marriage should be allowed. I'm not totally in support of homosexuality but if two people love each other then let them be married. Also I think all people should have equal rights. And I'd be pretty confident in predicting that most homosexual marriages would last longer then heterosexual ones.
And with Aussie saying marriage is a "sacrid (sic) tradition" HA! tell that to the millions of divorces, especially Britney Spears and Renee Zellweger and the like. How sacred can it be when they get married drunk and get divorced days later. I don't hear you chastising them.

Everybody is pretty much against this, but if you look at it any other way you will see that straight couples cant even keep a marriage together. they are selfish and uses the bible to scare people. I believe that it doesn't matter if you are gay or straight a bad relationship is a bad relationship.

ok most marriages don't work out well with heterosexuals so why would the gays want to join in? Hey if you ask me they had a good thing going with no marriage. No worries about spliting everything up. No custody fights hell it was so easy to just move on if you wanted.
Anyway I don't know what to think about gays. I guess in my opinion if they want to get married then let them. America was based on freedoms. Albeit we are losing them left and right. But to each his or her own. If what religion says is true then they will have to stand in front of god and answer. But meanwhile live and let live.

Good evening Sarah, I hope you are well.
Regarding religion, some of the Abrahamic faiths do support same sex marriage. One is no better or worse than the next. They are simply different paths to the same end. In America there is no state sanctioned faith, therefore if one faith, such as mine, sanctions same sex marriage who is the government to take the position that the belief of some is correct by denying SSM? In essence, IMO, that is the same thing as saying the belief of some is the correct belief and the belief of others is incorrect. That is not acceptable. FYI, I am Jewish.

First off, I don't CARE how you feel and I don't NEED your permission whether marriage should be okay or not. Marriage is not based on Religion, its a state and federal right, not a religious one! The benefits don't come from the Mosque or Church, they come from the State and Federal Government.

In a free country with separation between state and church, your religion has no meaning. Marriage is between two people. If you choose not to that is your choice, but don't interfere with other people's life. If you really belief in the almighty god than let him take care of that.

I was in a relationship for 42 years and while it would have been nice to have that piece of paper and nicer to have married in church, we managed well enough without them.
I would advise, however, that all couples make sure that legal matters are tied up, particularly in regard to the death of either or both partners.
Best wishes, Rose P.
