No! I think that are mean enough to discourage the people who shouldn't be competing that it is now time to try something else!

And you know that guy looked like a bushbaby!

Yes Its more than mean its dehumanizing. Simon and the other judges wouldnt know true talent period.Simon is the kind of scumbag that whines about cruelty to animals but humiliates members of his own species emotionaly. If you ask me they should have cancelled this garbage after the one and only true talented singer,Kelly Clarkson won. The fact is American Idol is the modern day equalivalent of the Roman form of entertainment on a psychological level. There are more sane ways of getting into the music buisness.

I think they have to be mean to get the point across that if you are serious about going into the music industry, you actually have to be someone that is actually meant for it. Think about it, I've seen these long lines of young people wanting to get on the show to win as if they didn't have any other ambitions in life.

The truth be told, if there can be only one at the end then let that be someone that is actually worth it. For everyone else, it's either back to school, back to the day job, unless of course some other record company finds you promising (which is the one thing I hate about the contest, you don't have to win as long as you proved yourself to at least someone so why waste your time with it?)

yes, the show should be shot from a junior high school bathroom because that is the level that the judges have sunk to.

Criticism is expected but not flat out name-calling insults. Why not say "you have not got stage presence" instead of "you look like a Bush baby". That is just rude, arrogant and juvenile!

American Idol is reaching its limit.
Before, it was just constructive criticism.
Now all the judges have become Simon.

Depends What You Are Thinking Of As Mean

No, not at all. but it's easy for me to say since I'm not the one auditioning and being rejected or criticized. I think they are fair in most cases since they have to weed through so many contestants and move on to the next city. It is a competition, why waste everyone's time taking in the ones that aren't right for this type of competition.

Kind of. I never heard of Randy Jackson or Simon Cowell before the show and Paula Abdul, although she seems nice and is a great dancer, has all the talent that fits in a thimble. So it seems really ironic that these nearly nobody people can sit there and criticize others.

I think they are getting too mean on there. Especially that last show when that guy was on there and Simon called him Monkey Boy. Paula was defending him and then soon as he left, she started laughing at him. That was just totally uncalled for. I do realize that they do it for ratings, but still that was just way too cruel.
Take Care,
