I had two of them naturally w/midwives at a hospital.
The experience was wonderful however with my third I learned how big she was and opted for and epidural. (big difference with the epidural.....super!)
I am sitting here...laughing...I wrote wonderful...of course that is after the fact when I am holding the little bundle of joy in my arms.
When all the pain is .......gone...........
extremely.....Red ring of Fire....remembering those words.
Painful yes.....stitches yes..... worth it yes......
Best wishes

I have 2 children, 11 and 9. I had them both naturally, no drugs or anything. My first was very very long and i was pushing for 4 hours. I had extreme pain in my lower back and kept telling the nurses to break my legs because they hurt so bad lol. But the recovery was pretty easy. i was only 18 at the time. With my 2ND, he came quick but I had low platelets and my blood wouldn't clot so i almost bled to death after the birth. i dont remember it being that painful because i was in and out of consciousness. The recovery wasn't bad, but a little worse than my first. i just found out I'm pregnant now and excited and scared to death at the same time....can you say EPIDURAL :)

I think the degree of pain is really determined by your own threshold of pain.
My labor was fine at first, but then the messed up nerve in my back spazzed and I had intense back labor. It got so intense that it went down the outside of my thighs. It hurt, I won't lie. Sitting in the tub or in the shower helped tremendously. So did walking, oddly enough.
When he was crowning...ring of fire is an understatement. BUT I'd do it all over again and plan to with my second child.

i have 5 children and gave birth naturally each time, yes it was painful and i had no painkillers at all, gas and air made me sick. i was lucky to have quite quick labours though so i cant complain as much as others though! but i feel a natural birth is best, better to face it full on at the time instead of the after effects of c sections r having an epidural

I had one daugher with an epidural and one without. I survived both though I'd go with the epidural. It is the easiest pain to forget though it was the worst. I've often thought to myself, that it was worth all the pain because that child is sweet, compasionate, and thinks of others. She's a sweetheart.

i started off naturally! i couldn't do it, the pain was too bad! She was laying back to front so the midwife said the contractions were stronger and they weren't regular at all! i needed a drug to get my contractions coming regular,( i don't know how to spell it,)
and that drug made the contractions 10 times worse! i also didn't have any side effects from the epidural.

2nd child, natural childbirth, no pain meds, in labor for 1.5 hours, ruptured a disc in my back during labor, had to have arthroscopic surgery, 6-week rehab, couldn't hold my newborn for 5 weeks...oh, and then there was a snowstorm that closed the hospital for a day, and my dear husband got the whole neighborhood to shovel a path between our major cross streets and my garage, so I could get home without falling...
How's that?

I have never met a woman who regretted not getting an epidural, but I have heard many women who regret having an epidural.
For me 3 days of labour was not painful.
