This is my first time having fish - I don't think it's prego. I'm not even sure if it's female?!
I got them Monday, two white cloud minnows (who live with 3 Zebra Danios). When I first got them, they were both the exact same size, one of them looks like it's colours are SLIGHTLY brighter, but its so slight I'm not even sure if its my eyes playing a trick on me.
Anyways, yesterday I didn't notice anything, but this morning when I was looking at them I realized one is a tad bit bigger now. A bit larger in length, as well as height. The belly looks a little swollen, but not that much at all - I don't think it's enough to hold eggs, and I do realize the eggs are almost microscopic.

Like I said, this is my first time - what do you think?

Also - I'm interested in breeding, atleast attempting to (I heard pet stores will take them from you), how many tanks do you suggest, and what size (gals) do you think?

Keep watching, don't overfeed, keep the water clean. ----If you are interested in breeding fish prepare for a lot of learning. The pet stores won't be able to pay you enough to make it profitable,(or break even) until you can provide them with fish that are rare and also difficult to breed. The guys in Singapore and Florida do all the easy ones an most of the difficult ones too.------PeeTee

OMG mines like that too like one of mines like long and slender and the one who i think is pregnant has like a bulge where its belly should be and its fading colors the first time i got it which was like a month ago i thought the petsmart lady gave me too males because it looked the same in length and color but now i have what seems to be male and female tell me if yours does this too when i feed them they seem to be soooooooooo hungry i would like you to message me what happens im so excited i hope mines pregnant too :)

and for about breeding these fish well theres no point because their sooo cheap well thats how it is when i got them if u got the time and money buy a complete 10 gallon tank with a heater and all other good stuff and breed like guppies or some thing for example if you go to the pet store and they mix male and female guppies together theres a pretty good chance the females pregnant sorry i made this so long i would like to hear from you on what happens to your "fat" fish :)

The size difference is probably just a natural occurance. I would not expect them to grow so rapidly, but fish will look different in different situations.

As for breeding, it's not easy. You have to pay a lot of attention to PH levels specific to the breed you are working with, and try to make the environment as stable and as close to nature as possible. Generally you will want to put marbles or some other large stones in the bottom of the tank to allow the eggs to fall to a place where they will not be eaten by other fish, but you have to be wary of the current and filtration you use. NO UNDERGRAVEL FILTER!

Get a lot of the same kind of fish and put them in a large tank with lots of caves and hiding places. Keep the PH as close to 7.0 as you can and cover the glass with newspaper to avoid external stress stimulus.

Unfortunately, when it comes to most types of fish, breeding is not something you do because you want to watch it happen. it is done to make money. If you want to watch breeding take place, go with live bearing fish like guppies, mollys plattys, and swords, or go with Convicts. They breed like mad in captivity.
