Women are often blamed for what happens to them if they wear revealing clothing, "she asked for it"....but it takes two to tango...how come men are not equally reviled for his part in the deed? Why is it that viewed that men are seen as unable to control themselves? Maybe if men stopped paying attention to women wearing revealing clothing, then they would stop wearing revealing clothing. We men have minds too and I for one, am more attracted to a woman with intelligence.

With "she asked for it" do you mean rape? Because men are NOT just doing what comes naturally with that!!

And bad things don't usually happen to girls who wear revealing clothing, at least not as much. The majority of rape victims (almost 90% last figure I saw) are wearing blue jeans at the time of their attack, rape is about power and inflicting pain and humiliation on women to feel more powerful and strong and other stupid things.

The whole "She asked for it" notion is a ridiculous psychological phenomenon where people have a tendency to blame the victim. Rather than believe the attacker (a fellow human being) was capable of such a heinous act they like to think the victim provoked it somehow, when that's almost never the case. Why this is, I'm not exactly sure, but it probably has to do with the demonizing of women over the last several hundred years...

Edit: Oh you might mean the double standard? Women can be intelligent and still dress sensually - indeed its almost expected of us just to get attention. We don't do it to be seen as sex objects, we do it to be noticed. Although I have to admit we can be a bit competitive about it...

Men and women are equally to blame for sexual morals in any society.

Men do naturally have more of a sexual drive. That's scientific. But that's no excuse to go gawking over some half-naked girl on a billboard. ha.

What you say is very true, and logical.

If men stopped looking, the women would no longer try to wear those things in order to get attention...

Attention is the only reason why they would wear those things, regardless of how 'cute' they are.

Besides, nowadays, the media determines what is 'modest' and what is 'cute'.

But then, why DO women wear revealing clothing???

If I were a woman, I would not wear something revealing out in public unless I want to send some type of message to men. Like you said it takes TWO to tango.

I haven't heard of ANY woman getting raped for wearing revealing clothing.

and this coming from a man - i'm impressed by your confusion!... the ones you're a part of, are the jockstraps with underwear a few sizes too small, restricting the flow of blood to the correct head... that any female with the remotest intelligence would never take seriously - those are usually the middle aged, balding, fat bellied losers you find cruising the beat on a fri night after a few beers, but there are other variations too... the hookers would not ply their trade honey, if moron loser men didn't buy the goods... so for women being second hand, for me, any man thinking this way falls right into that slot too - go buy some.

Most societies, even today, are primarily patriarchal. The "boys will be boys" attitude is a major part of such societies. Not all, but most heterosexual men, if they think they can get away with it, will skewer anything female. Then they turn around and accuse a woman they cheated on or abused of being a slut for trying to find someone worthwhile.

Because men have built that stigma up for hundreds of years, and it takes more than a little time to turn the Titanic around.

It's just that since women have really asserted themselves in mainstrean society, their behavior is more noticeable.

Women have realized how much power their vaginas have over men, and they abuse the power.

Why do women taunt fate by being morally flexible anyway?

If I pick up a poisenous snake and it bites me, should I blame the snake.

NO. Why?

Because it followed its nature.

Based on youn reasoning it's okay for women to act like whores, but men can't act like animals.

This is tantamount to a woman expecting to be able to strike a man and not be hit back.

Why do women think they have the right to commit assault without consequences?

YES. Men need to control their urges.
BUT, women should be responsible and not tempt men the way they can.

Actually, men are reviled for this. You are speaking for yourself on this one. As a man, I admire women for many reasons, but have the self control, sanity, ethics and morals to act appropriately. Women should be able to dress how they see fit without some scumbag man attacking them...
