Barkley Hound has it exactly right. If on the copyright page it says 10 9 8 7 6 then that would mean it is from the 6th print run. If it said somthing like 1 3 5 7 9 10 8 6 4 2 that would mean it is from the 1st print run. Whatever your lowest number in the sequence is your print run number. Usually this will be at the bottom of the page on the copyright page.

Good luck! Hope it's a first edition!

There should be a series of numbers on the copyright page that will look something like 1 3 5 7 9 8 6 4 2.

The lowest number is the edition number. They grind down one number for each edition.

It could still be a first edition even though it's a 50th anniversary edition. It's a different printing and therefore would have a first edition.

I havve no idea how you find out. Call or go to a book store or a library they probably can help you there.

on the copyright page it will say the printing and if it's a first edition. It's located at the front of the book I think the second page in. If it just says the printing and you don't see anything that says first edition than you don't have one.

Well, if it is a 50th anniversary edition, then it is NOT a first edition. That right there is the dead giveaway.
