Imagine this:
You're married and you have a beautiful wife and daughter. A new ruler takes over. He sends 25 troops to your home who tie you up and repeatedly rape your wife and daughter in front of you - all 25 of them. They make you watch and they make your wife and daughter scream in pain while they continue to rape her over and over. Then they kill your wife and child, but only beat you up real bad but don't kill you.
What would you do?
PS - Don't think this could never happen, because it has happened many times in world history. It happens right now in Darfur and the Japanese did this to the Chinese in World War II.

The desire for revenge is a normal human reaction. It has some MAJOR downsides, however.
- You have to remain deeply angry to do it, which will create enormous stress, enough to depress your immune system and contribute to illness
- If you do what you want to do, it is probably illegal, which will make you a criminal, someone who risks being caught and punished, and you may have to worry about that for a LONG time, or even suffer getting caught, etc.
- You'll probably experience guilt from the act...who needs that kind of burden?
- You could turn the butthead who wronged you into a raging enemy, who could really ruin your day someday
- Ultimately, revenge doesn't satisfy the way you think...you're left with lots of new negative feelings instead of the peace of mind you thought you'd have
You won't believe this, but the smartest thing you can do is just LET IT GO. Walk away from it entirely before it becomes serious baggage. Get to the point that you don't give a flying flip about this person anymore, one way or the other. It may take a while to get to this place, but it's where you want to go...if you want what's best for you.

well, unless I had a fully automatic gun and knew I could take all of them out before they could take my life or torture me, I wouldn't do anything. I would wait till they left and I would come up with a plan to kill all of them or torture them if I could. If that was not possible, I would leave the country and kill as many of them on they way out that I could. If I could not leave the country, I would commit suicide because I would never live in such a inhumane society. There are a lot of things worse than dying.

The carnal part of me would want to take ALL 25 and ALL their leaders and tear them up piece by piece and burn them slowly!! However, that would make you as bad as them. Since we ALL have to meet with our Maker in the end (believe it or not) it is NOT a good idea for revenge. He said, 'Vengence is mine, sayeth the Lord'. Easier said than done if it was done to my family. May it NEVER happen!!

I never seek revenge, no matter what, I never seek to get even with anyone.
